How RPL Works
Step-by-Step RPL Process
The RPL process at Fast RPL follows five clear steps:
1. Contact Fast RPL for a Free Initial Assessment
A worker with relevant experience contacts Fast RPL. We assess eligibility and identify the appropriate AQF qualification.
2. Evidence Gathering
The agency identifies the appropriate qualification and guides the worker in gathering evidence — employment records, references, work photos, and any previous training.
3. Submission to Partnered RTO
Evidence is submitted to a partnered RTO for formal assessment.
4. RTO Assessment
The RTO assesses the evidence against the qualification’s competency standards — possibly including a phone or video interview.
5. Qualification Issued
If competency is confirmed, the RTO issues the nationally recognised qualification.
• Evidence-based assessment — no exams or training attendance required
• RTO issues the qualification — Fast RPL manages the process
• Typical timeline: 2–6 weeks from evidence submission
• Free initial eligibility assessment — call 0433 435 899

QWhat is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)?
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process that allows you to convert your existing skills, knowledge, and work experience into a nationally recognised qualification. Instead of attending classes, sitting exams, or studying full-time, your practical experience is assessed against qualification requirements.
If your experience meets the standards, you can receive a certificate issued by a partnered Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
QHow long does the RPL process take?
The timeframe depends on how quickly you can provide your evidence and the qualification you are applying for.
Once you complete your Free Skills Assessment and submit your Evidence Portfolio, the review process typically takes a short period. After assessment approval from our partnered RTOs, your qualification can be issued promptly.
We aim to make the process as smooth and efficient as possible.
QWhat documents or evidence do I need to provide?
You will need to provide documents that demonstrate your skills and work experience. These may include:
- Resume or CV
- Reference letters from employers
- Work photos or videos
- Employment contracts or payslips
- Past qualifications or training certificates
- Licences (if applicable)
During your Free Skills Assessment, we will guide you on exactly what evidence is required for your specific qualification.
QAre RPL qualifications recognised nationally?
QIs there support available throughout the process?
Yes. We provide personalised support from start to finish.
From your initial Free Skills Assessment, through gathering your Evidence Portfolio, to liaising with our partnered RTO assessors, our team will guide you every step of the way.
Our goal is to ensure the process is simple, transparent, and stress-free.
