RPL Aged Care
If you have been working in residential aged care, home care, or community support — and have hands-on experience providing personal care and support to older people — RPL allows you to obtain a nationally recognised individual support (ageing) qualification based on your existing experience.
Many experienced aged care workers have been delivering quality care for years without a formal qualification. RPL recognises that experience and converts it into the nationally recognised qualification increasingly required by employers and the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Is a qualification required to work in aged care?
Since the strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards came into effect, providers are increasingly required to ensure workers hold relevant qualifications. The standard individual support (ageing) qualification is the standard qualification for direct care workers. RPL allows experienced workers to obtain this qualification based on their existing skills.
Does overseas aged care experience count for RPL?
Yes — overseas aged care experience is eligible for RPL assessment. Documentation such as employment records, references from overseas employers, and a skills interview form the basis of the assessment.
How long does aged care RPL take?
Most aged care RPL applications are completed within 3–6 weeks once all evidence is submitted. Fast RPL will give you an indicative timeline at your initial assessment.
